Meet Bruno! Bruno is one of the Horseman's Mission Makeover challenge colts. I have had the opportunity to work with him over the last 3 months and am very pleased with all he has learned! He has a very easy-going disposition and has been willing to try anything I've asked him to. He is easy to catch in pasture, comes right up to you in the barn, and stands to tack, bath, and clip. We have had Bruno on numerous wagon train rides with large groups of horses, and he stayed very calm and collected, even among traffic. He has also been roped off of and handles all that excitement very well. I have had Bruno ride through large creeks and he really loves the water. In the arena, Bruno picks up all leads smoothly, he will side pass through gates, crosses bridges, steps through the tire and walks through the cowboy curtain as if he's done it all his life! He has also done some lower level jumps. Bruno responds well to neck rein and leg pressure. I've been to a ranch riding show with Bruno and we had a lot of fun, bringing home some ribbons. Hip#s 15-19 are this year's Makeover Challenge Colts. The Makeover Colt Challenge has been designed as an opportunity for young, up-and-coming trainers to showcase their abilities. The trainers are challenged by starting an untrained 3 year old AQHA gelding in only 5 short months. On May 3rd, the selected 5 trainers purchased these colts from Norman Yoder's farm in Zearing, IA as halter-broke only.
All Makeover Challenge Colts will compete in a Ranch/Trail Class (judged on horsemanship and horses confidence) on Friday after the Sale Horse Preview. 🏆 1st place in the Ranch/Trail class wins $2,500.00, 2nd place wins $1,250.00 and 3rd place wins $750.00 🏆.
