Baus Horses
Baus Horses specializes in developing horses that are not only skilled but also well-mannered and adaptable. Whether it's preparing them for the show ring or ensuring they're a perfect fit for family adventures, our goal is to produce horses that bring joy and confidence to their owners.
We have over 40 years of combined experience, 17 of those years were spent on a private family farm, managing the breeding & training operation for a herd that was at one point over 400 horses. Having access to so many horses from birth to their first ride and then marketing them is an incredibly educational experience. It offers firsthand knowledge of equine development and training, allowing you to see how a horse's personality and physical capabilities evolve over time. You learn how to tailor training to suit each horse's unique traits, aligning them with the discipline they would be best suited for.
Mark also holds judges cards with AQHA, APHA & NSBA. In the show pen he has trained multiple APHA World Champions and numerous futurity champions. Many horses have come out of our program to go on and win Congress & World championship titles in the pleasure, hunter under saddle & all around classes. Melissa has also competed and holds world titles in the western pleasure & barrel racing.
We have three young children, they have 4 ponies, and all of them are living their best lives! In addition to family and horse ventures, Melissa runs a successful photography business that focuses on equine and western photography, as well as graphic design.
Each year, we only offer a select few horses, ranging from half drafts to show horses. When we look for horses to invest in, a great mind is at the top of our list. Talent and movement come in as a close second, followed by conformation, health, and appeal. If we wouldn't want it in our pasture, we wouldn't put it in yours.
